On November 20, the new VISTA center NOTRAP will be opened at NTNU in Trondheim. In January this year, the VISTA program announced funding for one center in natural sciences and one in social sciences. NOTRAP now becomes the first VISTA center focusing on social science research. The goal is for the center to develop methodologies for creating innovative, fair, and transformative guidelines for the Norwegian energy transition, assessing economic, environmental, and socio-political impacts.
The center will be led by Christian Klöckner from the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Social and Educational Sciences, in close collaboration with researchers from the Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Architecture and Design, and Faculty of Economics.
The center is funded for five years with 25 million Norwegian kroner through the VISTA agreement, which is a basic research collaboration between Equinor and the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters. NTNU contributes with self-financing.
